Leadership and Service Awards

During Tuesday night’s Richmond City Council meeting, Mayor Gayle McLaughlin presented the Martin Luther King Jr. Richmond Community Leadership and Service Awards to a select group of organizations.

The following individuals were present at the meeting and received a proclamation on behalf of their group and initiatives:

Mothers Against Senseless Killing: Charlene Harris, Camille Shortridge, Quallom Rasheed
The Latina Center: Miriam Wong, Gloria Vasquez-Alvarez
Victory Outreach Church: Pastor Beto Mejia, Gina Harris
Continuation of the Tent City Peace Movement: June Cannon, Dewayne Cunningham, Kelvin Davis, Felicia Haywood, Steven Mason Jr., Wilma Miller, Norman Walker
“Plant Love Not Fear” Children’s March: Wendy Gonzalez, Linda Salinas, Arturo Cruz
Nevin Park Funeral Procession to Bury Drugs, Guns and Violence: Anthony Allen, Otheree Christian
Richmond Southeast Shoreline Community Advisory Group: Karathi Hartman on behalf of his mother, Ethel Dotson, who died in 2007.
