Posted on December 13, 2008 Richmond Residents Offer Input On Measure T Money
Community members had a chance to give their input on how the $20 million in new fees on Richmond manufacturers, including oil refiners, should be spent. Ideas spanned from environment and educational projects to fixing potholes in the city's roles. This money is really giving Richmond a chance to better itself from those who can most afford it," said McLaughlin. Measure T opponents argue that it's unconstitutional and violates a state ban on taxing business inventories. The Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the California Taxpayers Association have spoken out against the measure, but it's not clear if a lawsuit will be filed. |
